Corsets 101 is an intensive course tailored to take any beginner from design, to drafting, to building their very own custom underbust corsets. Proper drafting techniques will be taught (from scratch - no pre-fab patterns), as well as different construction methods for each stage of the corset build. Emphasis will be put on structural integrity, practicality, and visual impact.

Corsets 101 course fee is $450. ($150 of this amount goes towards supplies* and tools).

*Almost everything needed for this course will be supplied for use in class or handed out for students to keep. However, students must purchase their own fashion fabrics and any optional embellishments for the outside layer of their corset. This usually costs $30 or less, but varies depending on the student’s choice. Students should also bring: pencils, note paper, calculator, fabric scissors. Students must have access to the use of a sewing machine, as sewing machines will NOT be provided in class.



Basic sewing skills: Know how to run a sewing machine, and ‘sew a straight line’. (All other sewing techniques needed, will be taught in class.)

An aptitude for basic math and fractions, as well as a basic understanding of sewing with a pattern (These will help immensely when learning how to draft your corset pattern).


NOTE: If you are fairly new to sewing, you will need to set aside a day each week to devote to your homework, in order to get the most out of this class. The more sewing experience you have, the easier this class with be for you.




Corsets 101 is a 9 week course (one session per week for a total of approximately 25 hours in class), and is offered to the public only twice per year.

NOTE: Multi-student terms for Corsets 101 are on hold until further notice, due to studio availability issues.
However, this course IS available as a private one-on-one class, planned around your schedule!!!
Course fee for private instruction of Corsets 101 is $600, and includes 9 sessions of 2.5 hours each. Most materials and tools are supplied, in addition to a mini text book on corset design and construction written by your instructor, Christina Manuge.

To be registered for this class, you must make a deposit payment of 50% of the course fee ($225) at least two weeks in advance of the first class date. Full payment of the course fee balance is expected on the first day of class. If any student fails to pay their balance by the second class day, they will not be permitted to attend any more sessions. Their deposit will not be returned. Deposits and course fees are NOT refundable unless the course itself is cancelled.

This is an extension of ‘Corsets 101’ and is intended for students who wish to evolve their new corsetry skills. Corsets 101 is a mandatory prerequisite.

Kicking it up a knotch! In this challenging Corsets 101 extension, students will learn theory and practical application of drafting for shaped over-bust corsets, over-busts with bra-style cups, bras to match their corsets, detailed colour blocking and style lines, as well as additional sewing techniques to aid in the execution of these more complex design options.
